Girlie Camps

The Girlie Blog

5 reasons why Girlie loves surfing

1. The adrenalin kick you get when you catch your first wave!
2. The sunburn on my nose
3. Good looking surfer dudes!
4. The smell of “surf wax”
5. Catching a wave in sunset, with friends

Summer time, when the living is easy…la la laaa la.
Girlies and Ladies! Go out and play!

Give me some adrenalin.

I need something that gives me a great adrenalin rush now when the summer arrived. Maybe kit surfing? Anyone tried that? Is it hard to learn? Looks really fun.
At the same time Im thinking of the winter and the Ladiescamp. Its going to be great 2011 for the Ladies!

Strength both physically and mentally

When I went surfing last year in Fuerteventura, I realized how stiff I was in the backside of my legs and in my back. Guess it comes from years of snowboarding and playing tennis. I found THE WAY to get fit for summer 2010.

I try to practice Body Balance at least 2 times a week. It gives me mindfulness and peace in the stressful everyday life.
Body Balance is inspired by yoga, qigong, tai chi and pilates and is an light form of exercising. Controlled breathing, concentration and a carefully structured series of stretches, moves and poses to music, create a holistic workout that brings the body into a state of harmony and balance. The aim is to train movement and strength for the whole body with special concentration on back, shoulders and the trunk. I started a few month ago and I can already feel the difference in my body.
Body balance especially focuses on the health of the back and since I had an injury a few years ago, it makes me fit for surfing and doing the sports I love!

I recommend you girls to try it :)

In Fuerteventura we will practise yoga 2 times/week, in the most amazing spot with a view out over the ocean. Until the camp, try it out!

Sunshine!

Today the sun is shining and the birds are singing outside.
So I take Knut, next generation skier, out for a looong powerwalk. He sleeps and I walk :)
Looking forward to ski with him :) )

Have a nice day girls and ladies!

The last day in Verbier

Jonas our wonderful coach has been forced to put up with moguls, powder, skicross, Big Air Jumps (or at least Small Air Jumps), videoanalysis and lots of girls talk. Jonas, however seems happy and impresses on us with this pose, which none of us could do. BUT Ladies Freeride Camps will be back in Verbier 2011 and then maybe one of us will pull it off :)

Safety on the mountain

Security training

Safe off-piste is made safer with proper equipment and training. The Ladies Camp had a trainingsession. Finding a tranceiver burried in the snow is not as easy as it seems.

A day of off-piste

GirlieCamps Ladies Camp in Verbier
Ladies doing back-country skiing

We got a day with a real off-piste adventure. Poor visibility and challenging terrain made the day an extrordinary adventure. We were  guided by GirlieCamps pro Peter Ström.

Ladies Camps’ after-ski

Ladies Camps in Verbier - After-ski

All the Ladies relaxing with a beer at the Mont Fort Pub after a long day on skis. In a few hours we will go to our yoga session. That should take care of our numb limbs!
